A trip to Dernford Reservoir on the 26th November 2022 was enjoyed by several early risers from Eco Whittlesford.

The species spotted included: 

• Cormorant, Phalacrococorax carbo
• Dabchick, Little Grebe Tachybaptus ruficollis
• Mute Swan, Cygnus olor
• Greylag Goose, Answer anser
• Barnacle Goose (feral), Branta leucopsis
• Mallard, Anas platyrhynchos
• Wigeon, Anas penelope
• Tufted Duck, Aythya fuligia
• Pochard, Aythya ferina
• Coot, Fulica atra
• Lapwing, Vanellus vanellus approximately 100 flying overhead
• Black Headed Gull, Larus ridibundas
• Herring Gull, Larus argentatus
• Lesser Black Backed Gull, Larus fuscus
• Red Kite, Milvus milvus
• Buzzard, Buteo buteo
• Skylark, Alauda arvensis
• Meadow Pipit, Anths pratensis
• Robin, Erithacus rubecula
• Pied Wagtail, Motacilla alba yarellii
• Reed Bunting, Emberiza schoeniclus
• Yellowhammer, Emberiza citrinella
• Grey Heron, Ardea cinerea
• Mealy Redpoll or Lesser Redpoll, Acanthis flammea or Acanthis carbaret

Another "spot": Margot Maitland found a four leafed Clover on the southern side of the reservoir.
