"Thinking outside the bin!" - Recycling discussion with Jon Crisp, Waste education officer, CCC.

A very informative talk with interaction to make us think about ways to reduce waste and increase recycling.

Monday, 30th September, 7.30pm at Whittlesford URC: a talk and discussion "How does Climate Law help us tackle climate change?"  with Dr Antoinette Nestor and Adv Maeve McDermott from Lucy Cavendish College and The Centre for International Sustainable Development Law.

Very useful and interesting discussion including Ecocide, Climate Justice, Cop summits etc.

We were entertained with an illustrated talk “The Buzz about Bees!” on 23rd April 2024 with beekeeper and Whittlesford resident Peter Connor. He gave us an introduction to the fascinating world of bees, their relationships with plants and people, and why they are so important for our future. There were plenty of laughs and delicious blind honey tastings - the Cambridgeshire Honey came top in popularity, and the "sugar syrup" badged as "honey" in some supermarkets came a distant last!

An enjoyable social gathering on Burns Night including vegan haggis and reading of Robbie Burns’ address. Everyone brought vegan snacks to share, including:

Ann Mitchell from Cambridge Sustainable Food lead a discussion and quiz on the carbon footprint of various foods. She also recommended the following books:

  • How Bad are Bananas : Mike Berners-Lee
  • Ravenous: Henry Dimbleby
