30 July 2022 Whittlesford Repair Café
Our first Repair Café was at the United Reformed Church, Duxford Road. There were 12 repairers, 45 bookings and 9 walk-in repairs. The repair success rate was just over 60%. Everyone was very pleased with the help and advice they received, even when the item couldn’t be repaired. Excellent refreshments - some of the repairers managed three slices of cake! Other Whittlesford RCs are planned for the future.

Here is our display at Whittlesford's 1000 Year Centenary! We appreciated so many people coming along to our stall and contributing their ideas. We displayed an electric vehicle, as you can see.

Eco Whittlesford inthe Community

June 2022

Thank you to Ashley Arbon for arranging some fascinating wildlife events, including Moth Night, a Water Vole walk (no water voles were spotted this time, but we did see a pair of kingfishers!), and a wildflower walk. There will soon be village nature trails too.

Look out for the Eco Whittlesford stand at our village party on July 16th. Come and visit us with the family. There will be a Repair Cafe at the URC on July 30th 2pm - 4.30pm. This is organised in collaboration with 2G3S (Green Groups of Sawston, Shelfords and Stapleford).

In the autumn we are planning some events focusing on Energy. We want to support one another to share ways in which we can personally reduce our use of fossil fuels. This is an area of concern as prices rise, and we hope to learn about alternative energy too. Watch out for dates and details for these events. Let's inspire, encourage one another, and do things together!

May 2022

Following our initial meeting, a steering committee, to be known as the Hub Group, has been set up. Work has been done on clarifying our aims, choosing a name - Eco Whittlesford - and producing a Constitution. Dr Hugh Frostick of VCS Websites Ltd has donated a domain name and this website, and has set up a Facebook group to share news.

Initial meeting to guage interest in a new group was held at the United Reform Church - with superb cakes and other refreshments! A lot of ideas and useful thoughts were collected.
