Stage 1 - Willow Trees and Brambles

The project start was delayed by the willow trees towering over the brook. Mark Lewis from Sawston was engaged by the Parish Council to pollard them, to make the area safe to work in. At the same time the huge buddleia, which had blown over under its own weight some years ago and was half dead, was trimmed back to allow regrowth.

After that, in the autumn of 2025, a work party of 10 people spent several happy hours together chopping and digging brambles to clear the way. This has improved the chances for some flower species, and certainly made them more visible like these snowdrops that revealed in late winter.

As the same time a new holder took on the allotment next to the Meadow, and removed some nuisance trees and brambles at the western edge.
